Argentium manufacturer achieves certification by the Responsible Jewellery Council
A press release issued by The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) on 13th March 2013, announced that Argentium silver manufacturer, Legor Group “has achieved certification by meeting the highest ethical, social and environmental standards established by the RJC’s Member Certification system.” Michael Rae, RJC’s Chief Executive Officer stated “RJC warmly congratulates Legor Group S.p.A. on its certification. The successful verification assessment was conducted by UL, one of the independent third-party auditing firms accredited to the RJC’s Member Certification System.”
Argentium International is delighted that Legor Group has been recognised for its responsible and ethical practices. As part of Argentium International’s company ethos, we decided that all the silver we use should be from a recycled (refined) source, not from a primary mined source. Working with our manufacturing partners to achieve this has also given us quality benefits - all silver is traceable back to the primary refiner, therefore giving greater control over its purity and ensuring high quality Argentium silver alloys. The primary reason for Argentium’s ‘responsible’ decision was related to the principles on which we want to build the Argentium business - that of a sustainable and ethical manufacturing strategy. Even the germanium (the key component in Argentium silver) is a by-product of another refining process, used for zinc.
