Argentium in Evening Standard Newspaper

The Evening Standard Newspaper kindly mentioned Argentium Silver in their 'Design trends - silver' article published on 28-Sep-11... describing Argentium as "the new magic stuff used by many new makers to take the chore out of cleaning".

Is Argentium sterling quality?

We are often asked whether Argentium Silver can be hallmarked as sterling quality (identified by the 925 hallmark).  The answer is 'yes'.

To explain further, there are two grades of Argentium Silver...

• Argentium 935 (93.5% silver purity)
• Argentium 960 (96.0% silver purity)

As both of these alloys each contain a greater silver purity than the required 92.5%, they easily surpass the sterling quality standard.

Argentium 960 also surpasses the British Britannia standard set at 95.8% silver purity.

Eva Martin wins 2nd place in Saul Bell Award

Congratulations to Eva Martin for winning 2nd place in Rio Grande's Saul Bell Awards with this stunning Argentium bangle.  Here are a few words from Eva...

"I was delighted to win my third Saul Bell Design Award http://www.saulbellaward.com/ with an Argentium Silver bangle which won second place in the silver category this year.

This design was born after my reading of the Large Hadron Collider and the race to find the 'God Particle' or Higgs Boson.  After weeks of research and scores of CAD drawings the Collider bangle emerged.

The bangle looks like two intertwined forms but it is actually one continuous channel with a single edge. Inside, synthetic ruby balls race around the channel and collide with each other."

Patricia Tschetter's 'Bee Ring' makes the cover page

Congratulations to Argentium Guild members - Patricia Tschetter, Julia Kay Taylor, Ronda Coryell, Cynthia Eid and Novell Design Studio/Kemp Metal Products Inc. for having their beautiful Argentium creations published in May 11 issue of MJSA Journal.

The article ‘Silver Bullet’ takes a look at the working properties of Argentium silver alongside a range of other silvers in today’s marketplace.  Novell Design Studio/Kemp Metal Products’ new line of Argentium/Gold bonded wedding rings (cleverly titled ‘In Union’) is featured and Patricia talks about her experiences and the benefits of fusing Argentium.

This brilliant article gives silversmiths and artisans clear and concise information to compare working with these silvers and gives some useful tips for using Argentium.
